Lựa chọn Amazon FSx file system
Ngoài shared file system cho Linux, nhiều nhóm người dùng có yêu cầu riêng, ví dụ file share SMB cho Windows hoặc HPC; mỗi yêu cầu có một loại file system phù hợp.
Ngoài EFS, AWS cung cấp bốn loại Amazon FSx file system cho các nhu cầu chuyên biệt. Mỗi nhóm trong bốn nhóm người dùng của MFTECH có ba yêu cầu bắt buộc. Thử mount từng file system cho từng nhóm để xác định file system đáp ứng đầy đủ yêu cầu:
Chọn một nhóm và một file system, sau đó nhấn Mount thử. Thử lần lượt cả năm file system để xác định lý do mỗi nhóm phù hợp với một loại.
Khi văn phòng cần duy trì file share SMB tại chỗ nhưng lưu dữ liệu trên S3, sử dụng S3 File Gateway (xem bài Storage Gateway).
Các tính năng quản lý dữ liệu của FSx for NetApp ONTAP và FSx for OpenZFS trong các tình huống vận hành của MFTECH:
ONTAP có hai storage tier: SSD tier cấp phát trước cho dữ liệu hoạt động, và capacity pool co giãn, chi phí thấp cho dữ liệu ít truy cập. Tiering policy đặt theo volume: Auto chuyển dữ liệu lạnh sau cooling period (mặc định 31 ngày, cấu hình 2 đến 183 ngày), Snapshot Only chỉ chuyển snapshot, All lưu mọi dữ liệu ở capacity pool. Metadata luôn ở SSD tier.
- Windows, SMB, NTFS, Active Directory, DFS: FSx for Windows File Server.
- HPC, đọc song song, nạp dữ liệu từ S3: FSx for Lustre.
- Đang sử dụng NetApp, cần NFS + SMB + iSCSI, SnapMirror, tiering sang capacity pool: FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
- File server ZFS hoặc Linux, chỉ cần NFS: FSx for OpenZFS.
- Thư mục dùng chung đơn giản cho Linux: EFS.
- FSx for Lustre không có deployment type Multi-AZ (file server trong một subnet, một AZ); cần chịu lỗi cấp AZ: EFS Regional hoặc FSx for Windows, ONTAP, OpenZFS Multi-AZ.
Choosing an Amazon FSx file system
Besides a shared Linux file system, many user groups have specific needs, such as SMB file shares for Windows or HPC; each need has a matching file system.
Besides EFS, AWS offers four Amazon FSx file system types for specialized needs. Each of MFTECH’s four user groups has three must-have requirements. Try mounting each file system for each group to find the file system that meets all the requirements:

Data management features of FSx for NetApp ONTAP and FSx for OpenZFS in MFTECH’s operations:
ONTAP has two storage tiers: a provisioned SSD tier for active data, and an elastic, low-cost capacity pool for infrequently accessed data. The tiering policy is set per volume: Auto moves cold data after the cooling period (31 days by default, configurable from 2 to 183 days), Snapshot Only moves only snapshots, All keeps all data in the capacity pool. Metadata always stays on the SSD tier.
- Windows, SMB, NTFS, Active Directory, DFS: FSx for Windows File Server.
- HPC, parallel reads, loading data from S3: FSx for Lustre.
- Already on NetApp, needs NFS + SMB + iSCSI, SnapMirror, tiering to a capacity pool: FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
- ZFS or Linux file servers that need only NFS: FSx for OpenZFS.
- A simple shared folder for Linux: EFS.
- FSx for Lustre has no Multi-AZ deployment type (file servers in one subnet, one AZ); to tolerate an AZ failure: EFS Regional, or FSx for Windows, ONTAP or OpenZFS Multi-AZ.
