Online và offline data transfer
Chuyển dữ liệu lên AWS có thể qua đường mạng hoặc bằng thiết bị vật lý gửi đi; lựa chọn phụ thuộc vào khối lượng dữ liệu, băng thông và thời hạn.
NAS hiện có tại kho chứa ảnh sản phẩm và dữ liệu backup tích luỹ nhiều năm. Yếu tố cần xác định trước tiên là băng thông mạng có đáp ứng được thời hạn di chuyển hay không. Thay đổi dung lượng, băng thông và đích nhận, sau đó so sánh thời gian của hai phương án:
Điều chỉnh dung lượng, chọn đường truyền và đích nhận, sau đó nhấn Bắt đầu di chuyển. Thử 10 TB với 1 Gbps, sau đó 2 PB với 100 Mbps.
Ngoài đợt di chuyển dữ liệu lớn, MFTECH còn một số nhu cầu truyền dữ liệu khác:
Endpoint SFTP do AWS quản lý; tệp được ghi trực tiếp vào S3 hoặc EFS. Cấu hình endpoint, giới hạn IP và phân quyền được trình bày ở phần 4.
Snowball Edge hiện không còn nhận khách hàng mới. Thiết bị Storage Optimized có 210 TB dung lượng khả dụng. Với khách hàng mới, AWS đề xuất DataSync cho truyền trực tuyến, AWS Data Transfer Terminal cho truyền vật lý (mang thiết bị lưu trữ tới cơ sở của AWS; hiện chỉ dành cho khách hàng Enterprise Support), hoặc giải pháp của AWS Partner.
- Băng thông đủ đáp ứng: DataSync (có thể truyền riêng qua Direct Connect + VPC endpoint).
- Dữ liệu vượt quá khả năng của đường truyền: vận chuyển vật lý (Snowball Edge với khách hàng hiện có; Data Transfer Terminal hoặc AWS Partner với khách hàng mới), nhập vào S3 rồi áp dụng lifecycle hoặc sao chép tiếp.
- SFTP: Transfer Family.
- Object đã tồn tại cần sao chép sang Region khác: S3 Batch Replication.
Online and offline data transfer
Data can move to AWS over the network or on physical devices shipped by courier; the choice depends on data size, bandwidth and the deadline.
The existing NAS at the warehouse holds product images and backup data accumulated over many years. The first factor to determine is whether the network bandwidth can meet the migration deadline. Change the data size, bandwidth and destination, then compare the time of the two options:

Besides the large data migration, MFTECH has some other data transfer needs:
An SFTP endpoint managed by AWS; files are written directly to S3 or EFS. Endpoint type, IP restriction and permissions are covered in part 4.
Snowball Edge is no longer available to new customers. The Storage Optimized device has 210 TB of usable capacity. For new customers, AWS suggests DataSync for online transfers, AWS Data Transfer Terminal for physical transfers (bringing storage devices to an AWS facility; currently available only to Enterprise Support customers), or an AWS Partner solution.
- Bandwidth is sufficient: DataSync (can transfer privately over Direct Connect + a VPC endpoint).
- Data beyond what the link can handle: physical shipping (Snowball Edge for existing customers; Data Transfer Terminal or an AWS Partner for new customers), import into S3, then apply lifecycle or copy onward.
- SFTP: Transfer Family.
- Existing objects that must be copied to another Region: S3 Batch Replication.
